KOTA KINABALU: The inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir resumed in closed session, with child witnesses again giving testimony.
One child deponent was recalled after previously undisclosed documents kept by the SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha discipline unit were revealed by a teacher.
Three new child deponents are also expected to testify.
So far, 57 of about 68 listed deponents have taken the stand, including medical experts, police, teachers and students, with more witnesses possibly to be called.
Lawyers said Zara’s mother may be the final witness in the inquest, which began in September 2025 to determine the cause of death.
