
Kota Kinabalu: Zara's father Mahathir Hashim Marikin, who made his first appearance in court, was allowed to be interested party in the inquest.
He was represented by counsels Sherzali Asli, Nurul Rafeeqa Afdul Mutolip and Clarice Vyonne Conrad.
The Coroner allowed all applications by counsels to be interested parties in the inquest.
The conducting officers comprise State Prosecution Director Nahra Dollah, Deputy Public Prosecutors (DPP) Mohd Fairus Johari, Dana Arabi Wazani, Dacia Jane Romanus and Sofia Sawayan.
Zara’s family legal team comprises Shahlan Jufri, Rizwandean M Borhan, Mohd Luqman Syazwan Zabidi, Mohd Syarulnizam Mohd Salleh and Farrah Nasser.
Four of the teenagers were represented by counsels Azhier Farhan Arisin and Abdul Fikry Jaafar Abdullah while counsels Datuk Ram Singh, Joan Goh and Prem Elmer Ganasan represented one of them.
Counsel Jamadi Saleh, on behalf of the Sabah Law Society (SLS), acted as a watching brief to observe the proceedings.
SFC Dr Norahimah Fitri of the Ministry of Education also became the watching brief in the inquest.
Immediately after Wednesday’s ruling on the admission of the lawyers, Coroner Amir Shah also fixed Sept 11 for a visit to the scene of the incident — Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tun Datu Mustapha, Papar — at 9.30am.
The inquest will resume at 2pm, with the pathologist who conducted the teenager’s post-mortem scheduled to testify.
