NORAIDAH Lamat told the Coroner’s Court that she could not recall any Facebook posts by Marhamah Rosli that could have incited the public over the case involving her daughter, Zara Qairina Mahathir.
Noraidah said she first came to know Marhamah, now Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), through Facebook when the latter was chairperson of a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
Testifying before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan, Noraidah said she knew Marhamah was active on Facebook but could not recall any of her posts containing negative content.
When counsel Joan Goh asked what she meant by negative content, Noraidah clarified that she was referring to posts that could incite the public.
She said she was unsure whether Marhamah’s Facebook posts or other social media activities had contributed to the case going viral.
“As far as I know, people were already aware of what had happened to my daughter before I even knew Marhamah,” she said.
Goh also questioned Noraidah about Marhamah’s involvement in the viral Justice for Zara campaign.
Noraidah said Marhamah visited her at home about a week after the incident involving her daughter and helped her find a lawyer before subsequently liaising with the legal team.
