Kota Kinabalu: The mother of Zara Qairina Mahathir was aware that her daughter had previously tried vaping, the Coroner’s Court heard on Wednesday.
Noraidah Lamat, 46, testified that she questioned Zara after learning that several male pupils had been caught vaping in a school toilet.
The 82nd witness said Zara initially denied involvement, but later admitted she had tried vaping after being pressed to tell the truth.
Answering questions from counsel Shahlan Jufri, Noraidah said she did not lose her temper with Zara, but advised and cautioned her regarding the health risks.
Noraidah added that Zara had consistently maintained an ambition to become a policewoman, attributing this interest to her late daughter's active personality and admiration for the uniform.
