KUALA LUMPUR - Zetrix AI Berhad (Zetrix AI) has never been appointed to collect employer or employee contributions for schemes under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4), according to the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso).
In a statement yesterday, Perkeso said Zetrix’s role as an agent was specifically to assist with marketing, promotion and engagement activities to expand participation in the voluntary Lindung Kendiri and Lindung Kasih schemes.
It said the appointment of agents for such purposes was not automatic, with companies required to meet its operational, system and compliance requirements.
"To date, Zetrix has never collected any social security contributions on behalf of Perkeso. Therefore, there is no issue of outstanding contributions, late remittances or contributions still being held by the company.
"In fact, neither Zetrix nor any other third party is involved in managing employer or employee contributions under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969,” the statement read.
Perkeso said third-party agents were only appointed in relation to contributions under the voluntary Lindung Kendiri and Lindung Kasih schemes.
The schemes are governed by the Self-Employment Social Security Act 2017 and the Housewives’ Social Security Act 2022, respectively.
It said the use of agents was aimed at raising awareness and expanding social security coverage among eligible self-employed individuals and housewives.
This differed from mandatory social security protection under Act 4, which was administered through Perkeso’s existing mechanisms and enforcement measures without external agents, it added.
Perkeso said companies considered for appointment as agents must undergo due diligence, including checks on their corporate background, court cases and other legal issues.
"Agents were also subject to continuous monitoring and evaluation,” it said.
Perkeso said an agent’s status would be reviewed in the second year if it conducted no transactions or activities during its first year of appointment, and the appointment could be terminated if the agent remained inactive.
Perkeso added that any other matters involving Zetrix’s dealings with other parties or agencies were outside its jurisdiction.
On Friday, the Road Transport Department announced that services provided by MyEG Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Berhad under the MYEG Group as its revenue collection agents would be suspended from today.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the decision followed a review of compliance with the terms and conditions of their agreements and obligations that remained unfulfilled or unresolved. - BERNAMA
