Germany's Alexander Zverev has reached the last 16 or the Rome Masters after a win against Alexander Blockx on Sunday.

The world number three beat Blockx for the second time in a space of nine days in a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

Last week, Zverev overcame the Belgian in straight sets in the semi-finals at the Madrid Masters, but was defeated by Jannik Sinner in the final.

"I was much better than I was two days ago. I think it was difficult to play pretty tennis from the baseline today because the conditions were not easy, it was very windy. But overall, I am very happy," Zverev said.

The German will now face Italian Luciano Darderi, who defeated Tommy Paul of the United States 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
