Anwar just exempted 1.1 million businesses from e-invoice. Why?

Anwar just raised Malaysia’s e-Invoice exemption threshold from RM1 million to RM3 million.

That means more than 1.1 million businesses will be exempt.

But this doesn’t mean e-Invoice was a bad idea.

Countries from Singapore to Italy and Saudi Arabia are moving towards some form of e-invoicing too.

The bigger question is: where should Malaysia draw the line between better tax compliance and putting too much burden on small businesses?
