Did Langkawi really suffer from a 7-generations curse?

Langkawi was supposedly cursed for seven generations.

That sounds like pure folklore — until you look at what actually happened after the legend of Mahsuri.

Soon after the period associated with her death, Siam invaded Kedah. Langkawi was attacked, people fled, and the island remained relatively isolated for generations.

Then in the 1980s, everything changed.
