Malaysia is in the chip industry, but not getting rich from it

Malaysia is already deeply involved in the global chip industry.
The problem is… we mostly handle the lower-margin parts of it.
A lot of the world’s chips are assembled, tested, and packaged here. Important work. Critical even.
But the biggest profits usually go to the companies that:
• design the chips
• own the intellectual property
• control advanced manufacturing
That’s why countries can be heavily involved in tech… but still not capture the full upside.
