Watch: New €10 Amsterdam–Berlin train service by Govolta takes off

The inaugural run marks GoVolta’s commercial debut as a Dutch open-access operator, with one-way fares starting at €10 and averaging around €30. The roughly seven-hour daytime journey calls at Amersfoort Centraal, Deventer, Hengelo, Bad Bentheim, Osnabrück Hbf and Hannover Hbf.

Services will initially run three times a week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, before expanding to daily operations by summer 2026.

Positioned as the “easyJet of rail”, GoVolta operates refurbished high-capacity coaches with around 820 seats, guaranteed reservations, café cars and a simple online booking system.

The model undercuts typical fares of €38 or more by prioritising volume over speed, with trains running at up to 160 km/h, and targets leisure travellers rather than business passengers.

A new Amsterdam–Hamburg route launches on 20 March with three weekly services, while daily Amsterdam–Paris services are planned for December 2026. Same-day returns are currently required due to infrastructure constraints in Germany.
