Malaysia registered more than 21,000 Alphards and Vellfires last year.
Here’s the surprising part.
Many of them probably didn’t come from Toyota Malaysia.
Instead, they came from Japanese used-car auctions.
How can a used car be shipped from Japan, taxed, refurbished and still end up RM200,000 cheaper than buying one from Toyota?
The answer has a lot to do with how cars depreciate in Japan, Toyota Malaysia’s product strategy, and why Malaysians are willing to trade a factory warranty for a massive discount.
