Why Malaysians keep buying recon Alphards

Malaysia registered more than 21,000 Alphards and Vellfires last year.

Here’s the surprising part.

Many of them probably didn’t come from Toyota Malaysia.

Instead, they came from Japanese used-car auctions.

How can a used car be shipped from Japan, taxed, refurbished and still end up RM200,000 cheaper than buying one from Toyota?

The answer has a lot to do with how cars depreciate in Japan, Toyota Malaysia’s product strategy, and why Malaysians are willing to trade a factory warranty for a massive discount.
