Why petrol stations only accept cash for TNG top ups

Ever wondered why you can QR pay for petrol, snacks and even other prepaid reloads… but TNG top ups are still often “cash only”?

The likely reason comes down to margin.

A petrol station earns very little from facilitating a TNG reload. So once payment processing costs are added, there may simply not be enough margin left to make QR worthwhile.

It’s not that QR can’t do it.

It’s that the economics of the transaction may not make sense.
