
The Haryana Police have been continuously targeting organised drug-trafficking networks as part of their sustained anti-narcotics campaign. A total of 2,353 FIRs related to commercial quantity cases have been registered under the NDPS Act during the last six years, leading to arrests of 6,256 accused. On average, the action comes down to one FIR and three arrests per day.
In addition, stringent action has been taken against properties acquired through the illegal drug trade, with assets worth Rs 72.70 crore seized, frozen or attached so far. The information was shared by Sanjay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police and Chief of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau, during a meeting chaired by Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal.
Sharing data, ADGP Kumar said that between 2021 and 2025, a total of 1,876 FIRs pertaining to commercial quantity cases were registered in the state under the NDPS Act, resulting in the arrest of 3,151 accused persons belonging to the state. Taking stringent action against repeat and organised drug offenders, preventive action under the PIT-NDPS Act was initiated against 156 accused persons. Furthermore, property attachment proceedings were initiated against 432 individuals involved in drug trafficking, targeting assets acquired through the illegal narcotics trade.
Similarly, between 2021 and 2025, details of 321 Haryana-based accused arrested in commercial quantity NDPS cases registered in other states were shared with the districts concerned for monitoring and verification. The meeting was informed that a total of 156 detention orders had been issued under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988, as part of Haryana’s campaign against drug trafficking.
During the meeting, Pankaj Nain, Special Officer for Community Policing and Outreach and Inspector General of Police, Ambala Range, presented the framework of the Uday Haryana Programme. He said the Drug-Free Haryana campaign would soon be launched across the state and various awareness and outreach activities promoting a drug-free society would be organised under this initiative.
