TAWAU: About 10,000 police personnel across Sabah are now on full alert ahead of Sabah’s upcoming general election to ensure the democratic process runs smoothly.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (pic) said reinforcements from the Sarawak Police Contingent would be mobilised if necessary, with final decisions to be made closer to polling day.

He said he had been briefed by Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun on preparations from nomination day on 15 November until polling on 29 November.

All police leave has been frozen except for essential cases, while training and simulations have been carried out, especially for officers tasked with managing ballot boxes in remote areas.

Saifuddin said police will not only ensure general security but also safeguard voters, election officials, and Election Commission personnel throughout the electoral period.
