On 18th May, rescuers from the l'Ecole du Chat d'Evreux charity, based in Normandy, France, carried out an emergency rescue.

A walker alerted the rescuers.

What they found was alarming: 11 kittens had been abandoned in the middle of a forest. Two of them were a month old, and nine were just a week old.

A crucial clue

For the rescuers, this was a crucial clue. The fact that the kittens came from two different litters left no doubt that this was a cruel act of abandonment by a human.

In their Facebook post, the rescuers explained that the older kittens would not naturally mix with younger ones, and that it is quite rare for a single mother cat to give birth to 11 kittens.

A brighter future

Thankfully, thanks to the person who reported the kittens, the little animals now have a chance at a future. They have been placed in foster care. The nine little ones are being bottle-fed every day, while the older kittens are already eating on their own. They will soon be ready for adoption once they are old enough.

In its Facebook post, the l'Ecole du Chat d'Evreux team issued a crucial reminder: "SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR CATS! Animal suffering begins with neglect." We wish the kittens all the best in their new lives.
