SANDAKAN: Thirteen men were arrested after testing positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine during a series of anti-drug operations here on Tuesday.
District police chief ACP George Abd Rakman said the suspects were detained in Ops Gempur Khas Bil. 2/26, along with related raids at Bukit Nenas, the Batu 3 squatter settlement, and Sungai Lamba by the district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.
According to police, eight suspects were held under the special operation, one in Sungai Lamba, and four others by the district narcotics division.
Two of the men are being investigated for suspected drug trafficking under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, four for possession under Section 12(2), and seven for self-administering drugs under Section 15(1)(a).
All 13 suspects remain in custody at the Sandakan police headquarters for further investigation and action under the same Act.
