Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Road Transport Department (RTD) seized 13 vehicles, including 12 cars and a motorcycle, for various offences under its Ops Ekstrem launched on Sept 6.
Sabah RTD Director Datuk Mohd Harris Ali said enforcement action was taken against 24 vehicles, with 81 notices issued during the operation.
The offences included extreme vehicle modifications, non-compliant registration plates, exhaust violations, expired motor vehicle licences, lack of insurance and excessive window tinting.
Harris said the operation was launched following public complaints and observations of vehicles modified beyond permitted specifications.
He said the 13 vehicles were seized for further action under Section 12 of the Road Transport Act 1987, speaking at a press conference at the Sabah RTD headquarters in Bundusan here on Saturday.
