Tuaran: A BMW was seized by the Sabah Road Transport Department (JPJ) after its driver was found to be driving without a Competent Driving Licence (CDL).
The vehicle was stopped during a Daily Patrol Operation at Jalan Lintas-Inanam on Tuesday, where further inspection found that its Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) had also expired.
In a statement, JPJ Sabah said the enforcement action was carried out through the Telipok Enforcement Station as part of ongoing operations to address non-compliance with road regulations.
“Following the incident, the vehicle was seized and taken to the Telipok Enforcement Station for further inspection.
“A seizure notice was also issued, while summonses were issued against the driver and vehicle owner,” the statement said.
Further inspection found that the vehicle’s insurance coverage was still valid. However, this did not prevent enforcement action from being taken over the other offences detected.
JPJ Sabah said it would not compromise with any party who failed to comply with the law, particularly regarding driving qualifications and the legal status of vehicles.
It said enforcement would continue to be intensified to ensure vehicles complied with road regulations and that road safety remained a priority.
The department added that such measures were important to protect all road users from risks arising from negligence or non-compliance with the law.
