Kota Kinabalu: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) has accused the Federal Government of using the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13) as a political tool to win votes ahead of the Sabah State election, describing it as “recycled rhetoric and empty promises”.
Star Information Chief Anuar Ghani said Sabahans were no longer impressed by “last-minute, headline-grabbing budget figures”, calling them a “cynical political tactic” after decades of federal neglect.
“The people of Sabah are not seeking charity, we are demanding justice. True progress lies in restoring Sabah’s constitutional rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), not in temporary funding pledges,” he said.
He quoted Star President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan as saying that Putrajaya’s real commitment should be measured by its fulfilment of MA63, particularly the 40 pc net revenue entitlement guaranteed under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
“Stop bragging about giving us money and start paying what you owe us,” Jeffrey said.
Anuar also criticised RMK13 for failing to address Sabah’s worsening flood crisis, saying the state needs an estimated RM17 billion for long-term mitigation but has yet to see any clear allocation.
“Sabah is drowning. Homes, livelihoods and lives are lost every year, while Putrajaya offers only token relief. Critical infrastructure decisions remain bottlenecked at the federal level,” he said.
He argued that the long-delayed 40pc revenue entitlement which he termed “The Lost Years” could provide the financial autonomy needed to fund flood projects and rebuild essential services.
“The 2025 state election is not just about leadership, it’s a referendum on Sabah’s future.
“Sabahans must reject pre-election handouts and demand that the Federal Government finally honours MA63.
“Honour the Constitution. Implement MA63. Pay Sabah its 40 pc entitlement now. Justice for Sabah,” Anuar said.
