TAWAU: The Marine Police seized 14,000 litres of diesel and detained six men suspected of fuel misappropriation following a raid at a storage facility here on Tuesday night.

The operation at Kampung Pasir Putih recorded total confiscations worth RM615,920, including a tanker lorry, three vehicles, storage tanks and three fibre tanks.

Sabah Marine Police Commander Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said those detained comprised five locals and a foreigner believed to be involved in the illegal activity.

He said the raid was carried out around 10.30pm based on public information and intelligence gathered by the Marine Intelligence Unit.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 to ensure the availability of controlled goods in the market, with authorities vowing continued efforts to curb fuel smuggling and diversion in the state.
