SANDAKAN: Marine police busted a subsidised diesel misappropriation operation during a raid at two separate locations – Batu 5 and Batu 15 – here, on Wednesday.

The operation, which began around 10am, led to the arrest of five individuals suspected of being involved in the illegal activity.

Sabah (Region Four) Marine Police Commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the operation also resulted in the seizure of three lorries, three skid tanks and 11,200 litres of diesel believed to have been stored for misappropriation purposes.

“The estimated total value of the seizures is RM460,500 and the case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961,” he said.

He warned that firm action would be taken against any party found to be misusing subsidised fuel for personal gain.

Mohd Nazri said they will continue to intensify operations and intelligence efforts to combat the misappropriation and smuggling of controlled goods, particularly subsidised fuel.

“We welcome cooperation and information from the public regarding any suspicious activities so that immediate action can be taken,” he said.
