In a major move aimed at transforming government school education, the Haryana Government has selected 14 schools in Sirsa district that will be developed as Chief Minister Excellence and Early English (CM EEE) Schools, a project designed to provide students with modern infrastructure, better academic standards and early English-medium education.

The initiative is part of the state government’s larger plan to upgrade 250 government schools across Haryana and make those competitive with private institutions. The Education Department released the district-wise list of selected schools on Wednesday.

Officials said the scheme is intended to improve the quality of education in both rural and urban areas and increase parents’ confidence in government schools by offering better teaching facilities, trained staff and a modern academic environment.

In Sirsa district, two schools each have been selected from all seven education blocks.

The selected schools include Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Sukchain and GSSS Phaggu in Baragudha block, GSSS Goriwala and GSSS Kaluana in Dabwali block, GSSS Mizarpur and GSSS Dholpalia in Ellenabad block, GSSS Jodhkan and GSSS Kagdana in Nathusari Chopta block, GSSS Naurang and GSSS Pipli in Odhan block, GSSS Dhudianwali and GSSS Ottu in Rania block, and GSSS Patli Dabar and GSSS Chamal in Sirsa block.

Under the CM EEE model, special emphasis will be placed on English-medium education from the foundational level. According to guidelines issued by the Education Department, students of Class I in these schools will study compulsorily in English medium. From Class II onwards, separate Hindi and English medium sections will be operated so that students and parents can choose their preferred language of instruction. All CM EEE schools will remain affiliated with the Board of School Education Haryana.

The government has clarified that no additional fee or financial contribution will be collected from students apart from the regular school fund. Officials said this would ensure that children from economically weaker families are also able to benefit from improved educational facilities without financial burden.

The selected schools will function as co-educational institutions and are expected to receive improved academic and infrastructure support under the scheme.

Teacher appointments in these schools will also follow a special screening-based selection process, similar to the system adopted in Model Sanskriti and PM Shri schools. The aim is to ensure that qualified and trained teachers are posted in the institutions to improve learning outcomes.

Another major feature of the project is that every CM EEE school will work as a “hub school” for nearby government schools. These institutions will provide academic guidance, teaching support, educational resources and expertise to surrounding schools, helping strengthen education standards at the cluster level.

Education officials believe the move could help reduce the growing dependence on private schools, especially in rural areas, where parents often shift children due to concerns over quality of education and English-language learning.

According to the available information across Haryana, Hisar district has received the highest number of CM EEE schools with 18 institutions selected. Sirsa and Bhiwani have been allotted 14 schools each, while Jind and Sonepat have got 15 each.

Sirsa District Education Officer Subhash Phutela said the initiative would significantly strengthen the standard of education in government schools. He said students would benefit from better teaching methods, English-medium learning and an improved educational environment. He added that the appointment of qualified teachers through a screening process would help ensure quality education for students across the district.
