Police have booked 15 undertrials after security personnel at Amritsar Central Jail recovered prohibited items, including mobile phones, SIM cards, chargers, and tobacco products, during a surprise check.
Two separate FIRs were registered under Sections 42 and 52A of the Prisons Act.
Authorities recovered six mobile phones, including four touchscreen handsets and two keypad phones, along with five SIM cards, six chargers, two data cables and one adapter. Officials launched investigations to identify those responsible for supplying the prohibited items to inmates.
