The accused arrested for alleged involvement in an online cricket betting racket.

The police in Haryana’s Sirsa and Fatehabad districts busted separate gambling and betting operations, arresting 28 persons and recovered cash, mobile phones and betting-related material, officials said on Saturday.

In Sirsa, the CIA Ellenabad team raided a house in Chandigarhia Mohalla and uncovered a large gambling den allegedly being run by the house owner, Deepak, alias Kaka.

Superintendent of Police Deepak Saharan said the raid was carried out after the police received a tip-off during night patrolling. As the police team reached the house, several people allegedly tried to flee but were rounded up at the spot.

A total of 25 persons were arrested and Rs 5.71 lakh in cash along with playing cards was recovered from their possession. A case has been registered under the Gambling Act at the City Sirsa police station, and further investigations are underway.

In a separate operation in Fatehabad district, the CIA team busted an online cricket betting racket operating from agricultural fields near Mohammadpur Rohi village.

Three alleged bookies were arrested while reportedly accepting bets on an IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. The accused were identified as Hitesh Kumar alias Hanny, Sandeep, alias Golu and Aman Jangu.

CIA in-charge Vedpal said the police acted on specific information and raided the site, where the accused were allegedly conducting online betting through mobile phones.

During the raid, the police recovered an iPhone, four other mobile phones, a register containing betting records, a pen and Rs 3,710 in cash believed to be linked to the betting operation.

A case was registered under the Haryana Prevention of Public Gambling Act, 2025, at Sadar Fatehabad police station. The accused were later released on police bail in accordance with legal provisions.
