2,000 turn out for DBKK’s Raya Open House

Kota Kinabalu: The Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration organised by the City Hall (DBKK) serves as an opportunity to foster friendships.

Mayor Datuk Dr Sabin Samitah said the event aims to strengthen not only the ties among DBKK staff and officers but also relationships with all communities across the city.

“Today’s programme invites the public to celebrate Eid, aiming to strengthen relationships not only among DBKK staff, Federal and State officials, but also with residents and the general public.

“We initially estimated about 1,500 guests, but as observed, there has been a continuous flow of people entering and exiting the hall.

Sabin, who is also Chairman of the event, expressed his satisfaction with DBKK’s organisation of the Aidilfitri celebration this year, noting that the guest turnout exceeded expectations.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in making the event a success,” he said at the DBKK 2024 Aidilfitri Open Hari Raya ceremony which was graced by Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his consort Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni.

During the event, Juhar and Norlidah presented Duit Raya to 20 asnaf children from Sembulan.

Among the highlights of the event were performances by 2016 RTM Star Champion, Rosario Bianis, alongside DBKK members as well as special performance by Communications Secretary to TYT, Datuk Rashid Mohd Tahir, who sang the song “Seloka Hari Raya”.

Also present were State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Kadzim M Yahya, Science Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Ariffin Mohd Arif, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Nizam Datuk Abu Bakar Titingan, and State Government Secretary Datuk Seri Sr Safar Untong.
