Two students were killed and eight others injured when a tourist bus overturned after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle near Naushera Majha Singh on the Amritsar-Pathankot National Highway on Friday morning.
The injured have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Gurdaspur. A majority of the passengers on board were students.
According to reports, the students were coming from Amritsar to Jammu after taking their examination.
“We were sitting at the rear of the bus when the driver lost control. Passers-by had to break open a window to rescue some of us. Two of our colleagues died on the spot,” said a student.
Five cars trailing the bus also collided with each other following the accident.
