Two city judokas have been selected to represent India at the Asian Judo Cup, scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan from June 7 to 12.

Paras (60kg) and Arjun (66kg), both trainees of senior coach Parveen Thakur at Ludhiana Judo Academy, have been the cut. The academy is run from the multipurpose indoor hall at Guru Nanak Stadium.

Adding to the achievement, both the players will also participate in an elite international training camp from June 12 to 17, where top judokas from several countries will train under experienced coaches and experts.

Coach Thakur said the selection was a result of years of intense training, discipline and dedication towards the sport. From spending countless hours on the mat to overcoming every challenge with courage and determination, Paras and Arjun have proved hard work always leads to success, he added.

“As the two judokas prepare to wear the Indian colours in Kazakhstan, the entire community stands behind them with pride and confidence, hoping they continue their remarkable journey and inspire many more young athletes to dream big,” said Thakur.
