
The CIA-1 unit of Kurukshetra police has nabbed two miscreants after a brief exchange of fire near Rattangarh village of Shahabad on NH-44 last night.
The miscreants were identified as Tony and Kapil, residents of Kurukshetra.
Both suffered bullet injuries to their legs and were taken to LNJP Civil Hospital for treatment. As per the police, both accused were involved in the firing incident in Kurukshetra on Sunday, in which two youths had suffered bullet injuries.
CIA-1 in-charge Prateek Kumar informed that a firing incident in Gandhi Nagar area was reported on Sunday. The injured were identified as Aman, a resident of Kirti Nagar, and Prince, a resident of Gandhi Nagar. Around 3.30 am, the accused, travelling in a black SUV, reached near Rotary Chowk and opened fire at the victims. While Aman suffered two gunshot injuries, Prince suffered one injury. A case was registered on the complaint of Prince against Rahul, Tony, and three others.
“Last evening, a tip-off regarding two miscreants roaming with weapons on a two-wheeler in the Shahabad area was received, following which a team of CIA-1 started a search operation.
The miscreants were asked to stop, but they started firing at the police party. One of the bullets hit the bulletproof jacket of PSI Rahul. In response, the police party also opened fire, and both miscreants suffered bullet injuries. The CIA-1 recovered two pistols, four live cartridges, and 10 empty cartridges from their possession,” he said.
The CIA-1 also seized a two-wheeler bearing a Himachal Pradesh registration number.
According to the CIA-1 in-charge, based on the investigation so far, five people were involved in the firing incident on Sunday. Two have been arrested, and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining three. Details about the two-wheeler and the history of the nabbed miscreants are being obtained.
