
The CIA-2 unit of the Kurukshetra police has arrested two miscreants after an exchange of fire on Monday.
The miscreants were identified as Vishal alias Karan, a resident of Karnal, and Lovish alias Laddi, a resident of Kaithal. Vishal suffered a bullet injury in his foot.
The two accused were involved in a snatching incident on NH-152 on June 12.
DSP (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar informed that on June 12, Manjeet Kumar, a resident of Ambala, had submitted a complaint at Pehowa City police station, in which he stated that he drives a taxi, and around 8.30 pm, four youths hired his taxi from Ambala to Kaithal.
As they reached near Arunai village on NH-152 in Pehowa, the accused put him at gunpoint and managed to flee with his taxi.
A case was registered and the car was recovered from agricultural fields in Hisar on June 13. During the investigation, a mobile belonging to Jaskaran was seized from the car. The police started obtaining information with the help of mobile.
On June 15, around 2.30 am, the CIA-2 unit got information about two miscreants, who were involved in a snatching incident, near Murtazapur village. After spotting the miscreants, police personnel attempted to nab them but Vishal opened fire at them. In response, the police exchanged fire, in which Vishal suffered a bullet injury. The second miscreant was also nabbed from the spot. One pistol and two live cartridges was seized from the accused’s possession.
The DSP further informed that six more accused have also been arrested in connection with the case.
They were identified as Abhishek, Nikhil and Ajay of Kaithal, and Jaskaran, Rohit and Kamaljeet Singh of Punjab. While Vishal, Lovish, Rohit and Kamaljeet were involved in the snatching incident, Nikhil had provided the weapon and Abhishek, Ajay and Jaskaran were involved in the planning.
It has come to light, that the accused had planned to commit three murders including two in Karnal, and one in Punjab. They had also made an extortion call in Kaithal. They hid behind the name of a gang while making the extortion call, however, are not involved with any gang. Their previous records are being obtained. Further investigation in the case is under way, the DSP informed.
