SHAH ALAM – Police will strengthen the Malaysia Internet Crime Against Children system with advanced analytical tools to detect offenders and child sexual exploitation networks earlier.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) would also expand its Safer Internet Campaign to all schools, focusing on cyberbullying and child exploitation.
He said this when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Anwar said MCMC had blocked more than 5.7 billion scam-related calls and SMS messages as part of efforts to combat fraud.
The National Scam Response Centre would also develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered application to help the public check suspicious phone numbers, bank accounts and links before making transactions.
The application aims to help users identify potential scams before they lose money.
