Athletic Bilbao sports chief Rafa Alkorta admits he tried to sign PSG midfielder Ander Herrera.
Herrera left Manchester United last month, but not before Bilbao attempted to bring him back to the club.
Alkorta said, For Ander Herrera, there was a desire for him to come, because we knew that he had just finished his contract.
"What happened is that we could not compete with PSG in any way, but he was a player who was on the table. We knew that he also wanted to leave Manchester and yes, there was some contact, but PSG came through and it was impossible that we could access Ander."
