Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO addresses the volunteers of Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojana in Jandiala on Saturday.

The district administration is set to launch the registration process for beneficiaries under the Punjab Government’s Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojana from June 15 in the Assembly segments of Majitha, Jandiala Guru and Amritsar South. Financial assistance under the scheme will commence from July 1.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the scheme, the administration has enlisted 3,484 Mahila Satkar Sakhis (MSS) across the three constituencies. A total of 1,072 volunteers have been deployed in Majitha, 1,169 in Jandiala Guru and 1,243 in Amritsar South.

Under the scheme, electoral rolls will be used to identify and register eligible beneficiaries. Each volunteer has been assigned around 50 households and will conduct door-to-door visits to verify the credentials of eligible women. The verification process will include checking Aadhaar cards, voter identity cards and bank account details. The volunteers will also help beneficiaries rectify discrepancies in documents to ensure their registration is completed by June 30.

To strengthen the grassroots implementation of the scheme, a special training session for Mahila Satkar Sakhis was organised at Inder Farm in Jandiala Guru today. Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO attended the programme and addressed the volunteers.

The minister said that all necessary arrangements for the successful implementation of the scheme had been completed by the government. He noted that a large number of women had come forward to serve as Mahila Satkar Sakhis, reflecting their commitment to public service. To equip them for the task, the government is providing technical and practical training covering every aspect of the scheme.

During the training programme, master trainers and supervisors familiarised the volunteers with the eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, beneficiary identification, registration procedures and form-filling processes. The volunteers were also instructed to spread awareness about the scheme during their visits and assist eligible women in completing application formalities.

Harbhajan Singh ETO said that on the first day of training, Mahila Satkar Sakhis associated with 110 polling booths in the Jandiala Guru Assembly segment were covered, while volunteers from the remaining 106 booths would be trained on June 14.

Under the Yojana, eligible women belonging to the general category will receive financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month, while eligible women from Scheduled Caste (SC) families will receive Rs 1,500 per month.

Officials said the volunteers will play a crucial role in ensuring that every eligible woman is enrolled under the scheme. Besides verifying documents, they will assist women in filling out application forms and will be paid an honorarium of Rs 100 for each completed form.
