LAHAD DATU: Some 83 houses and 463 individuals were inspected during an integrated operation coordinated by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom), here, on Thursday.
Esscom Commander DCP Datuk Victor Sanjos said the operation not only aimed at enforcement but also part of Esscom’s ongoing efforts to prevent intrusions.
“The exercise served as both an assurance to local residents of their safety and a reminder that any attempt to disrupt harmony would be addressed with firm action,” he said. According to Victor, the operation was conducted at Kampung Tanjung Labian to Kampung Tanjung Batu from 1.30am to 7am.
A total of 151 personnel from Esscom, the Armed Forces, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Royal Malaysia Police, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Royal Malaysian Custom Department, Civil Defence Force, Immigration Department, National Registration Department, Lahad Datu District Council and Felda Auxiliary Police were involved.
“During the operation, 83 houses and 463 people were inspected, resulting in six being detained for committing offences under the Immigration Act.
“All those detained have been handed over to the Immigration Department for further action,” said Victor.
Expressing appreciation to all the agencies involved, he said similar operations will be carried out at other districts under Esszone from time to time to curb cross-border criminal elements that could threaten the security and people’s well-being.
Victor also called on the public to become the eyes and ears of Esscom by reporting any security incident in Esszone to the Esscom operations centre at 089-863181 or WhatsApp at 011-63311072.
