5.6 quake rocks Southern Luzon, Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.6 earthquake has been felt in parts of Metro Manila, Southern Luzon and Bicol, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The quake occurred at 10:11 pm with its epicenter is located at 96 kilometers east of Jomalig, Quezon, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

Intensity 3 was reported in Quezon City; the towns of Jose Panganiban and Mercedes in Camarines Norte; and Guinayangan and Infanta in Quezon.

Intensity 2, meanwhile, was felt in Ragay, Iriga City, Pili, Sipocot, and Sagnay, Camarines Sur.

Some provinces, such as Rizal, also felt the earthquake.

While damage to property is not expected, aftershocks are possible in the coming hours.
