I have lived in Bandar Sri Damansara for over twenty years and it has been growing, buzzing and thriving with a lot more to offer right now.
In fact, I don’t really have to go to malls that frequently because I can get almost everything within reach right here in this neighborhood, with the exception of maybe some fashion needs and the likes which only stores at malls can provide.
Why Bandar Sri Damansara for your one stop yum-cha chills?
Read further and you’ll see why:
1. It’s a neighborhood buzzing with liveliness
It really is actually. There are many places to walk around here, a lot of shops and stops here are really just a few kilometers away from each other. Some are just a few minutes away from each other, it’s really just a few walks away.
When I was growing up, everyone pretty much knew each other in a close community. There’s always that one uncle or aunty in one of the early morning shops set up at 5AM to 9AM, with a variety of bread, buns, hot desserts and the usual nasi lemak with savory add-ons.
It’s still the same now, only growing to larger communities and more establishments being set up, there is always something for everyone here.
2. Spoiled for many choices, never running out of things to eat
Malaysians as we are, we are always about one very important substance in life: food.
Where the food goes, that’s where happiness leads. Are most of the cafes we have here instagrammable? Check. Are some of these cafes able to provide the best-tasting cuppa of double-shot espresso and latte? Yes, plenty.
Food choices for vegan and vegetarian? Yes. Food choices at affordable prices and still remain scrumptious? Check.

Also what’s more is what I would usually say that we have ‘a lot of convenience stores’ here, which is true: There is a CU Mart, Family Mart and three different 7-11 stores to choose from (with only one being 7-Cafe and another that stocks on premium grocery items).
3. Markets? Grocers?
The OG of all in this neighborhood still stands with Grand Union market. If you’d like more choices, here’s a list:
- Hero Market
- Ever Fresh Market
- D’Fresh Market
- Four different 99 Speedmarts
Honorable mentions would be a few fruit stalls and other specialty markets that cater to different needs such as selling only non-halal products, pharmacies, butcher shops and frozen food stores.
4. In the season to shop for new clothes? Check out Uniqlo!
Located just in the heart of Damansara Avenue of Bandar Sri Damansara, it’s very hard to miss it in sight actually. Look at that huge sign up there and you’re good to go.
Rumor has it that the branch in Damansara Avenue is one of the biggest! Maybe best to prove that theory yourself by checking this branch out.
After shopping for some clothes, you could definitely drop by Starbucks just a short walk away to get a nice Grande or Venti cup of coffee, or alternatively stop by 7-11 next to Starbucks to get some snacks.
5. But how about public transportation?
Worry not!
It’s easy to access public transportation here.
There are two buses that go stops at Bandar Utama bus stop:
1. The PJ06 bus: The PJ free bus. No charges, just save money, save carbon footprint, be adventurous and just get on the bus to go to where you need to go.
2. RapidKL 801: Has more stops and more accessibility to more places. Although it is not a free bus, it is still an affordable fare for the convenience of transportation.
3. Sri Damansara Barat – MRT Station: A fairly new MRT station located just next to Petronas in Bandar Sri Damansara.
