
Kota Kinabalu: The 7th SGA Junior Idol Golf Tournament hosted by Sabah Golf Association (SGA) was successfully held at the Likas Par-3 Golf Driving Range on June 6.
A total of 50 junior golfers aged 12 below participated in the half-day event started at 7.30am.
SGA president Nash Hon said the tournament served as a platform to showcase the juniors’ talents and reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing and developing young golfers from the grassroots level, beginning with the U-12 category.
In the boys’ division, the category A title was won by Alden Naeem on countback over Abner Lee Jin Tao, who had to settle in second place and third place went to Darrel Rayyan Rizal.
Yap Chok Tong was the category B title winner followed by Luca Jared Chaw and Tay Rui, while the top three places in category C went to Chan Sing Yu, Lain Lim and Basil Marudu.
The category A title in the girls’ division went to Suvin Park with Nurqailysha Edrina Nadzhar and Fathiya Aura Nisa Mohamad Harman in second and third place respectively.
In category B, Casey Thea was the winner, Mikaela Tee in second place and Francyn Avely Francis finished in third.
Ohanna Ong Xin Yu was the winner in category C followed by Quek Hee Ning and Carla Keisha, while Chloe Gishna captured the category D title.
The closing ceremony was officiated by SGA deputy president Datu Khalilulrahman, who also presented the winning prizes together with chairlady of SGA junior, training and development sub-committee Julia Hwong.
Khalilurahman said SGA wished to extend their gratitude to all the participants for their dedication and sportsmanship as well as to the parents for their unwavering support and commitment to the development of junior golf in Sabah.
He also announced that SGA will be hosting the Junior Tour 1st Leg 2026 at Kudat Golf Club from July 25-26 followed by the 2nd Leg at Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai from October 17-18.
