MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) monitored 28 ports in four regions where 543 passengers, truck drivers and cargo helpers, 179 rolling cargoes and 16 vessels were stranded early Sunday due to rough sea conditions brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat, intensified by Typhoon Dolphin.
The PCG maritime safety advisory covered monitoring from midnight to 4 a.m. on Aug. 9, 2026, in Western Visayas, Bicol, Southern Tagalog and Central Visayas.
In Western Visayas, the affected ports were Caticlan Jetty Port, Alegria Port and Barangay Union Port in Nabas.
In Bicol, the monitored ports were Pioduran, Pasacao, Mobo, Mintac, Aroroy, San Jacinto and Pilar.
Southern Tagalog ports covered by the monitoring included Real Port, Port of San Andres, Roxas Port, Pola Port, Romblon Port, San Agustin Port, Looc Port, Batangas Port, Calatagan Port and Wawa Port.
In Central Visayas, the PCG monitored Polambato Pier, Hagnaya Port, Taloot Port, Cogtong Bay, Anda in Bohol, Hagutapay Port, Pilar Port and Poro Port.
The PCG reported that 19 vessels,10 motor bancas, six tugboats and three barges were taking shelter in safe areas.
The PCG said it continues to monitor port conditions and maritime activities in the affected areas.
