Another soggy week: Pagasa says more rain to soak Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Many areas in Luzon, already soaked from more than a week of rain, will continue to be inundated by strong rain because of the southwest monsoon or habagat, the weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that on Monday, heavy to intense rains are expected in La Union, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro. Moderate to heavy rains will fall in Ilocos Norte, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Antique.

On Tuesday, Pagasa said there will be heavy to intense rain in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro as well as moderate to heavy rain in Abra, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, and Antique.

Residents in these areas were urged to be alert because of possible flashfloods and landslides.

Pagasa said it continues to monitor Typhoon Dolphin and two tropical depressions outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
