
A road accident occurred at the Kotkapura Bypass in Moga, resulting in the death of a six-month-old infant and leaving his mother critically injured on Saturday. The accident was triggered by an uneven sewerage manhole on the road, which caused the motorcycle to lose balance.
According to reports, a man was traveling on a motorcycle with his wife and their six-month-old son, identified as Manveer Singh. As they reached the Kotkapura Bypass, the motorcycle suddenly jolted and lost balance after hitting a sewerage manhole cover on the road.
The impact caused the mother and the infant to be violently thrown off the vehicle.
Local bystanders rushed to the scene to assist the family. With their help, the injured mother and child were immediately transported to the civil hospital in Moga.
Upon arrival, the medical staff on duty declared the six-month-old baby, Manveer, dead. The mother sustained severe injuries and has been referred to an advanced medical facility for further treatment due to her critical condition.
The hospital staff has notified the local police, who are currently investigating the matter. Local residents have expressed outrage over the poorly maintained manholes and roads, which continue to pose a severe threat to commuters.
