A young man from Rasulpur village in Punjab’s Karimpur area has died in Canada following injuries sustained in a road accident, his family said on Friday.
Mukhtar Singh, the father of the deceased, said he received a call a few days ago from Canada informing him that his son, Jujhar Singh, had been injured in a road accident involving others. He was admitted to hospital but succumbed to his injuries today.
Jujhar Singh, 24, had moved to Canada around two years ago and was married there about a year ago, his father said.
Mukhtar Singh said he remained in regular contact with his son after the accident, enquiring about his condition. However, he received a call this morning informing him of his death.
Hospital authorities have begun preparations for a post-mortem examination.
Mukhtar Singh said the family has demanded from the Government of India assistance in bringing the body back to their village.
He added that he had taken a loan to send his son abroad, which remains unpaid.
