According to ChinaPress, a 28 year old woman has married an 82 year old Islamic healer, with the couple's 54 year age gap becoming a talking point online.
Wan Nor Fatiha, 28, previously attracted media attention after being linked to a series of unexplained house fires that earned her the nickname the “mysterious fire girl.”
She was the second of four siblings and the granddaughter of 88 year old Zainah. At the time, her family was living in Kampung Kubang Telaga in Merod, where a series of unexplained fires reportedly broke out at their home.
The unusual incidents received widespread media coverage and turned Fatiha into a familiar name among local readers.
Now, she has once again become the subject of public attention, this time because of her marriage to 82 year old Mohd, an Islamic healer.
The couple first met around two years ago and officially tied the knot on June 24 in a ceremony witnessed by members of both families.
Fatiha revealed that her grandmother and other family members initially opposed the marriage because of the significant age difference.
However, after giving the relationship considerable thought, she decided to go ahead with the marriage.
According to Fatiha, Mohd is a widower whose previous wife passed away in February this year. She said she believed he understood her situation better than anyone else and could continue providing her with Islamic healing treatment.
She also revealed that she had previously been married to a man in his 40s, but the marriage ended after just one year.
Following their wedding, Fatiha and Mohd are now living together at their home in Kampung Manjed in Bachok.
Mohd has seven children from his previous marriage, aged between 42 and 61.
Fatiha said her past experiences surrounding the mysterious fires had been difficult, especially as some people had allegedly assumed that she had mental health problems because of what happened.
“It was not easy for me,” she said, adding that life had gradually improved since she began living with her husband.
Despite their 54 year age difference, Fatiha said age was never an obstacle for the couple.
When they appear together in public, people often mistake them for a grandfather and granddaughter. However, she said she does not mind what others think and simply wants to cherish the happiness she has found.
For Fatiha and Mohd, their unusual relationship may continue to attract curious looks from strangers, but they insist that the age gap does not define their marriage.
To them, love and companionship matter more than the number of years between them.
