Bournemouth are keen to do business with Newcastle United over the sale of Callum Wilson.
However, the key to any agreement will be Newcastle sending Matt Ritchie back to Dean Court in the opposite direction.
The Evening Chronicle says United have looked at Wilson throughout the summer as well as his Bournemouth team-mate Josh King.
But Wilson is pushing for a move from the South Coast after the Cherries were relegated and knows his England chances will suffer if he plies his trade in the Sky Bet Championship.
Wilson - who has scored 41 goals in the Premier League in 126 games - has a price tag of £30million and Ritchie's presence in the deal would reduce that figure.
Wilson's arrival at Newcastle would lift the fanbase a little with excitement and enthusiasm for the new season currently at a low level on Tyneside.
The deal has been put together by agent Will Salthouse who represents both players.
