Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted some regret turning down Olympique Lyon last year.

Wenger was offered the OL job ahead of Sylvinho and Rudi Garcia after Bruno Genesio's departure.

He told L'Equipe: "Today, I wonder if I was wrong not to take Lyon, in May 2019, when I was offered it.

"I was not ready. It seemed to me too early to dive again. I had not fully mourned. I had Sylvinho (appointed to OL during the summer of 2019) on the phone, he called me some time ago.

"He suffered from his experience in Lyon because he's a sensitive guy."
