David Moyes rejected the chance to sign Edinson Cavani for Manchester United seven years ago.

The 33-year-old signed as a free agent with United on deadline day, agreeing a one-year contract with an option for another year.

But the Uruguayan could have been at Old Trafford much earlier.

According to The Athletic, Ed Woodward recommended the talented striker to David Moyes back in 2013.

Cavani was on the verge of leaving Napoli at the time, but Moyes decided against the move after he was unimpressed following three scouting trips.

He instead joined PSG and went on to score 200 goals in 301 games across a seven year spell.
