Make edu Halatuju a priority

Kota Kinabalu: Head of the Sabah branch of the Malaysia International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Micci), Datuk Seri Panglima Wong Khen Thau (pic) called on the Sabah government to prioritise education of Sabahans in its “Halatuju” plans.

“Learning from the progress of Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan which has little natural resources, the importance of having an educated, trained and productive human resource cannot be underestimated and overlooked like before or otherwise the fate of Sabah will still be about the same situation as today,” he said.

He rued that: “Each year some 40,000 SPM students left secondary schooling and only half proceeded on for further education and training to be Sabah’s better human resource talents to meet the expectations of the employers or venture into entrepreneurship.”
