SANDAKAN: Electricity supply to several areas in town was interrupted for about half-an-hour from 6.05pm Wednesday after an eagle hit a 33kV high voltage power transmission line.Investigation by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) showed that the power interruption was caused by an eagle who hit the high voltage transmission line as its carcass was found underneath the transmission tower. The areas affected include IOI Edible Oils, Weldan, Forest Marine Complex, Kg Bahagia and Kg Gas, Sinora Sawmill, Prospect One Sawmill, part of Kg Gas Kecil, Desa Permai, Taman Poh Hing, Cymao Factory, Hing Lee Fishing Kg Sundang, Sri Kemajuan Sawmill, SESB Office, SMK Batu Sapi including SESB Quarters, Sandakan Plywood Building (Golden Gate) and Sabah Agri Fertiliser.

It affected nearly 3,600 consumers.
