Former Barcelona coach Quique Setien admits he had to compromise his principles during his time in charge.
The 62-year-old came in to replace Ernesto Valverde at the Camp Nou in January 2020 and was in charge for seven months, with his last game being the club's infamous 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
He told El Pais: "The truth is that I wasn't able to be myself, and I wasn't able to do what I had to do.
"It's true that I could have made drastic decisions, but they wouldn't have sorted anything in the short time I was [there] and with the situation after lockdown."
The humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern will live long in the memory for many people, and Setien is no different.
"You're really hurting after a loss like that," he stated.
"You go down in history with that defeat. I take my portion of the blame. One day I'll write about it.
"After being sacked, I found out that the decision to get rid of me had been made before this defeat."
