THE Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) must utilise its budget for 2021 to build more People’s Housing Projects (PPRs) in Sandakan to address the squatter problem in the district. Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong (pic) said based on a government survey carried out in 2018, Sandakan recorded the highest number of squatters in the State, with more than 34,000 locals living in squatter colonies in the district. “These squatters have no access to clean water supply and their living condition is cramped and unhygienic, making them to be a hotbed for spreading Covid-19 and other diseases.
