Build more integration schools, says Aliakbar

Kota Kinabalu: Nominated Assemblyman Dr Aliakbar Gulasan suggested building more integration schools in Sabah. 

“Efforts of the Islamic Affairs Department to start several integration schools is one good move. 

“In addition, private schools, at the curriculum level, has included the Quran memorisation system. Academic and diniah subjects (religion) is taught in this school which will produce students who integrate in the context of addressing the current education system,” he said.

Dr Aliakbar, who is also the Sabah PAS Secretary, suggested that schools like this be established in either kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. 

He gave an example of the Tunas Islam Orphanage (Pasti) which has 8,000 students throughout the State.

“These students already started memorising the Quran when they are five or six years old. 

“After that, these students should go to schools that they can continue with the curriculum there,” said Dr Aliakbar.
