Kota Kinabalu: Moyog Assemblyman Datuk Darell Leiking (pic) proposed that the State Government take this time to reset Sabah as a whole in terms of skills setting, gas industry and new innovative way to collect tax revenue.

“We must open our gas refinery here. It’s expensive, I know, but this is one way in which Sabah can make up for those lost years,” he said when debating the 2021 State Budget, here.

He cited the reason why Sarawak had a bigger allocation of RM52 billion from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) over the period of 2013 to 2018, compared to the RM9.1 billion to Sabah over the same period, was due to Sarawak utilising to the maximum gas from Sabah.

“This happened in 2010 and was implemented in 2013 where Bintulu has received revenue from our gas that we channel from Kimanis to Bintulu,” said the former Miti minister.
